Knowing the Living God

Only the truth of Scripture, understood with the mind and communicated through doctrine, gives us a firm foundation for our beliefs and for shaping our conduct — including for judging whether our emotions and experiences are right and fitting. Studying doctrine is therefore both an intellectual and a devotional discipline. Wholehearted pursuit of God should lead the student to transformation, obedience and ever greater wholehearted worship.

Knowing the Living God is first and foremost a study of the Bible. It has no colourful illustrations, moral stories, or even much commentary. The author's desire is for this work simply to point the way to Scripture and let God's Word speak for itself.

The main goal of this guide is for the student to meet God through His Word, grounded firmly in the conviction that Scripture is inspired and is the inerrant Word of God. It is purposely designed so that it is impossible to keep studying without opening your Bible.
